CRM and sales pipeline glossary

Plain definitions for the terms used across Dealbase. Each entry describes how the term applies to a mid-market B2B sales team.

Sales pipeline

The set of open deals a team is working, grouped by stage from first contact to closed. Dealbase shows the pipeline as a kanban board.

Deal rotting

A deal that has sat in one stage past a set threshold. Dealbase flags rotting deals so reps act before they go cold.

Win rate

The share of deals that reach closed-won out of all deals closed in a period. It is a core measure of sales efficiency.

Sales cycle

The time from a deal being created to closed-won. Shorter cycles free up rep capacity and improve forecast accuracy.

Contact enrichment

Filling in missing company and contact details automatically, so reps spend less time on manual data entry.

Revenue analytics

Reporting on pipeline value, win rate, sales cycle and forecast, used to answer what will close this quarter.

No-code automation

Building triggers and actions through a visual builder rather than code, so sales operations can run without engineering.

Pipeline hygiene

The practice of keeping deal stages, close dates and next steps current, so the pipeline reflects reality.

Role-based access control (RBAC)

Granting users permissions by role rather than one by one. Available on the Dealbase Growth plan and above.

SCIM

A standard for provisioning and de-provisioning users automatically from an identity provider. Available on Dealbase Enterprise.

Usage figures behind the terms

How these figures are measured

Benchmark figures come from the annual Dealbase survey of 412 B2B sales teams, run each January across company sizes from 10 to 200 seats and weighted so no industry dominates the sample. Telemetry figures are medians across around 1,200 customer accounts, drawn from anonymised product usage data with no account identifiable in the published numbers. Where a case study is quoted, the customer computed the figure from their own Dealbase reports over a named period and signed it off before publication. Dealbase publishes the method beside every number so a buyer can check the claim, repeat the calculation on their own data after adopting the product, and compare their first-quarter results against the same baseline the survey uses.

Why these terms carry numbers

Each definition on this page links a working practice to a measured outcome from the Dealbase research, so a sales operations lead can take a term like deal rotting into a pipeline review with the figure that makes it matter. The benchmark survey and the telemetry report are both published annually and both named wherever a figure appears.

Tools and standards Dealbase works with

Email and calendar sync covers Google Workspace and Microsoft Outlook, including shared inboxes and Google Calendar scheduling. Notifications post to Slack channels and Microsoft Teams. Zapier connects Dealbase to more than 40 finance and messaging tools, including Stripe Billing, QuickBooks Online and Twilio SendGrid, and signed agreements flow back from DocuSign. Recordings from Zoom Meetings attach to the deal timeline. The REST API and webhooks run on OAuth 2.0, data is encrypted with TLS 1.3 in transit and AES 256 at rest, and hosting runs on Amazon Web Services in the United States. Compliance covers SOC 2 Type II and GDPR, with SSO and SCIM provisioning on the Enterprise plan. Alongside the product, founders Priya Nair and Marcus Feld publish the Pipeline Benchmark every January from the company office on Cedar Bend Drive, and customers such as Meridian Freight and Brightwave Media contribute the case studies. Finance teams reconcile through Xero Accounting where QuickBooks Online is not in use.
